Requirements for Growth

The London Pound Mints Strain is a little stronger than most other marijuana strains. Like all “Mintz” strains, the London Pound Mints Strain tends to stay at a manageable height, making it well-suited for indoor gardens.

The London Pound Mints Strain grows well outdoors too and thrives in Mediterranean climates (i.e. California, New Zealand, South Africa) that are both sunny and dry; so if you do plan to grow the London Pound Mints Strain indoors, make sure to cycle the air inside your grow space every five minutes to prevent humidity from accumulating and keep your lights about 24 inches from the top of your canopy at all times.

The London Pound Mints Strain flowers faster than most other strains and can handle high levels of nutrients better than most other strains too. However, the London Pound Mints Strain is also known for producing dense flowers that are more susceptible to mold. Therefore, we recommend taking preventative measures to avoid contamination.

The London Pound Mints Strain also responds well to pruning and other low-stress training (LST) techniques like SCROG & SOG. The London Pound Mints Strain also yields considerably better in hydroponic gardens then it does in soil gardens, but we still recommend growing it in soil for two reasons: Ease-of-maintenance and Maximum aroma.

Due to its shorter flowering time, we recommend giving the London Pound Mints Strain a longer veg so that the plant is robust enough to support the weight of its flowers.

The London Pound Mints Strain performs better in larger containers. However, we still recommend starting the London Pound Mints Strain in small containers and transplanting them into larger containers after about a month.

This extra step will help strengthen the roots and ultimately increase the overall yield at harvest.

Indoor growers should try to always maintain a temperature of around 74 – 78 degrees Fahrenheit inside their grow space and keep the air circulating.

The London Pound Mints Strain also tends to be a thirstier strain than most and therefore requires more frequent watering so be sure to keep an eye on your substrate and let it almost dry out in between waterings.

This measure will help encourage root growth and lead to a larger yield.

Always make sure to calibrate your pH meter properly, and always adjust the pH of your water so that the run-off water measures around 6.0.

Make sure to also allow adequate time for flushing to remove any residual mineral salts that may have accumulated during the long flowering period.

We recommend that soil growers flush the London Pound Mints Strain for 10 to 14 days prior to harvest and that hydroponic growers flush the London Pound Mints Strain for 7 to 10 days prior to harvest.

In general, longer flushes tend to produce better flavors and aromas without decreasing yield.

Lastly, be patient. The London Pound Mints Strain is a VERY resinous plant with a VERY generous yield. Make sure to monitor the trichomes closely under a 100x microscope and give the flowers time to mature before harvesting.

Take the time to cure your buds in glass jars too. This step will enhance the London Pound Mints Strain’s natural flavor.

The Best Soil for Growing

London Pound Mints Strain

When it comes to starting young plants, we recommend Tupur Mix by Royal Gold.

Tupur Mix is a coco fiber-based soilless medium that contains a heavy amount of perlite; and nothing else.

In other words: It's the PERFECT growing medium for seeds, clones, and young plants.

Keep in mind that while mature plants LOVE stuff like seabird guano and earthworm castings, whereas younger plants prefer clean, well-draining soil; and a light nutrient regimen that gets progressively stronger as the plant grows.

That's why we love Tupur Mix - it allows for MAXIMUM control over your feeding regimen!

This substrate is designed to let you feed your plants as often as possible without overwatering or burning your plants.

These unique factors make Tupur Mix ideal for young plants in containers, automated watering systems, drip-to-drain, ebb-and-flow, deep water culture, and aquaponic gardens.

Tupur Mix strikes the perfect balance between drainage and moisture retention while still allowing for adequate aeration to prevent water logging.

How to Plant Clones of

London Pound Mints Strain

When repotting a plant, the substrate should always come out of the smaller container in one piece.

Another key to transplanting clones is to make sure that the substrate in the new container is saturated with water to allow you to pack the soil down around the plant once it's been transplanted.

When to Top Your

London Pound Mints Strain

We recommend topping your plants when they're about 24 inches tall and before they begin flowering.

Growers who choose to employ low-stress training techniques (SCROG or SOG) may end up topping multiple times.

Topping a plant temporarily deprives it of growth horomones called auxins that are present in the tips of the shoots and regulate vertical growth. In the absence of these hormones, the plant begins to grow horizontally for a few days until the auxins recover.

This "horizontal growth" leads to the development of multiple meristems that can each eventually support a large flower.

That's why topping is a widely accepted practice that has been shown to dramatically improve yields.
